In the
early May 2020, Cassatly Leadership Coaching interviewed 27 healthcare leaders
to learn about the impacts of COVID-19 on their organizations, their insights
based on recent experience, and their version for future leadership during uncertain
times in the industry.
Telehealth, the delivery of health-related services and information via digital communication technologies, is a rapidly emerging, innovative, cost effective and efficient way to deliver health care. There are three main types of telehealth: store and forward, remote monitoring and real-time interactive services. Smart phone applications, or apps, that connect a provider with a patient, known as “connective health apps,” fall under this umbrella of telehealth and can function in all three of the categories. As the Affordable Care Act legislates to improve quality, lower costs and expand coverage, connective health apps, are an important aspect of the Act. This article will address to what extent the Affordable Care Act and private insurers cover and promote connective health apps.
Full ArticleThe change in reimbursement mandated by the Affordable Care Act is causing a rapid consolidation of the marketplace as well as the delivery of clinical care in a team-based model. This case report examines the successful joining of two clinical teams concurrent with the merger of two healthcare organizations and discusses some of the difficulties encountered. A subsequent discussion focuses on the resolution: the need for physicians to embrace the team concept of healthcare delivery and for healthcare systems to facilitate this transition with team and leadership coaching.
